QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan Aliyani on Wednesday said that the minerals of Balochistan belonged to its people and without the consent of Balochistan no agreement will be accepted. “Balochistan is full of opportunities however, we need to work hard to bring more investment in the province,” he added.

Chief Minister Balochistan revealed that despite facing resistance and pressure by Chinese Companies, the Provincial Government has categorically denied giving land ownership to Chinese, he adding we seek equity share on our land resources.

“The Chinese Companies were emphasizing for land ownership in Gwadar but we have clearly told that Government of Balochistan won’t give land ownership, because our government has only assets of natural resources and land.” Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan said while meeting Journalist to lend comprehensive briefing on his five days visit of China at Chief Minister’s Secretariat flanked by Provincial Ministers Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, Saleem Ahmed Khosa, Advisor Muhammad Khan Lehri, MPA Bushra Rind and Asad Baloch.

“During Cabinet Meeting we had taken this principle decision that if any foreign company requires land in Balochistan, we are ready to give our land on lease or on rent, because unless we revamp our equity and revenue structure, not this but next ten government would be remained plunged into financial issues.”  CM Balochistan said terming his visit as a successful experience.

Applauding the Shanghai Export Expo Chief Minister Balochistan said, we have gained confidence from events like Shanghai Export Expo where we were informed that there were many resources from Pakistan and Balochistan which have significance in Chinese Markets including Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock,

“We could have achieved more benefits from our resources because in 21st century if we think that foreign investors would approach us for investment would be our delusional thought, we have to gain attention of foreign companies by adopting digital mechanism.”

CM Balochistan Jam Kamal announced that the provincial government has decided to conduct a roadshow in China during next one or two months to win the confidence of Chinese Companies on our provincial resources.

“We can’t attract the foreign investors by sharing some pictures with them, we have to move forward with a solid policy and planning to lure Chinese Companies because Balochistan’s geographical status, natural resources and coastal strip giving us more strength in winning the hearts of International investors.” Jam Kamal said adding Balochistan is capable of represents itself before the world.

Taking the jab on previous Federal Government CM Balochistan said, former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had named Asian Development Bank’s development project as CPEC’s western route, the previous regimes were looking for their share in 55 billion dollars investment but unfortunately we have missed the chance of bringing development projects in Balochistan during first phase of CPEC,

“They put us on the chaos of western route, but all development projects and power plants were initiated in eastern route particularly in Punjab Province, in initial phase of CPEC Balochistan was gifted only two projects of Gwadar Port and Hubco Power Plant.”

He added, the Government of Balochistan is owner of its land, those seek to initiate talks for investing in Balochistan have to come Quetta and Gwadar saying the federal government was playing its role as a facilitator and partner but the foreign companies now have to hold direct talks with Provincial Government.

Sharing his concern over the land allotments in Gwadar Jam Kamal said, the distribution of land in Gwadar has been staking the future of Balochistan lamenting that 80000 acres land is being acquired to install an oil refinery in Balochistan while the country’s biggest oil refinery was established on 600 acres land.

“If our government get succeeded in securing two or two and half lakh acres land in Gwadar, it would be our biggest achievement for the future of this province and our people.”

Replying to a query regarding financial quagmire in Balochistan Chief Minister said, the provincial government needs 400 billion to complete the development projects under Public Sector Development Fund (PSDP),

“Without taking loans, Government of Balochistan has been barring provincial expenditures but we are optimistic and taking measure to control the financial woes.”

He added, the provincial government has restored clean drinking water supply in Pasni while in next eight months Gwadar would get 4 to 5 million gallon water monthly which would be enough to fill the water need o the whole district.

Responding to a question regarding Reko dik Project Jam Kamal said, the Italian Company has claimed indemnity of 1200 billion dollars but we have been trying our best to convince them over 150 billion dollars.
