QUETTA: National Assembly’s Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri on Wednesday said studying of some 10,000 girls in Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University (SBKWU) was a guarantee for the bright future of Balochistan.

The girls students should not obtain education for mere getting employment rather they should spend their energy in the field of research so that they could perform an important role in the development of the province and the country, he added.

He was speaking to girl students during his visit to Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University here.

SBKWU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Rukhsana Jabeen, faculty members and government officials were also present on the occasion.

Qasim Suri said the female students were talented, who, if provided an opportunity of quality education, could work for the country’s development.

He said the role of women could not be ignored in Balochistan’s development. An educated woman could make her whole family educated thus paving the way for them to perform their role in the country’s progress, he added.

Suri said education was the topmost priority of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s government in its endeavour to make Pakistan a great country. The federal government under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan would establish more quality educational institutions in Balochistan for female students, he added.

He said Imran Khan had already constructed Shaukat Khanam Hosptials in Lahore, Peshawar and Karachi and another would be built in Quetta soon. The prime minister had made the announcement in that regard during his recent visit to the provincial capital. he added.

Later, the NA deputy speaker took round of various departments, including the security control room and library. Vice Chancellor Rukhsana Jabeen presented a shield to him on the occasion.

Earlier, Qasim Khan Suri chaired a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office to discuss  various issues related to the city, including education, health and water.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the federal government would fully support provincial government  for provision of clean drinking water, standard education and health facilities to the people.

He said the past regimes had ignored the people of Balochistan and kept them deprived of basic facilities like clean drinking water, for which they were were left at the mercy of tanker mafia. However, the present federal and provincial governments were taking practical steps to address all the problems being faced by the public, he added.

He directed the district administration officials to visit their respective areas and resolve the longstanding problems of the people.

Deputy Commissioner Quetta  Captain (retd) Tahir Abbasi, Additional Deputy Commissioner Naseebullah Kakar, District Health Officer Quetta Dr, Shair Muhammad Satakzai, Managing Director WASA Walim Muhammad Bareach, Education Department official Muhammad Iranfan Ahmed, Muteeb Ahmed and other officials attended the meeting.
