QUETTA: The Punjab bound Jaffar Express has narrowly escaped twin blasts on Friday near Mach Railway Station while no casualty was reported in a bid to bomb passenger train.

QUETTA: The Punjab bound Jaffar Express has narrowly escaped twin blasts on Friday near Mach Railway Station while no casualty was reported in a bid to bomb passenger train.

Unknown terrorists planted remotely controlled explosive devices between Mach and Hirak railway track which exploded 200 feet far from the targeted train,

“Fortunately the quick response by the Driver named Owais ur Rehman has saved many lives because minutes later of the first blast, he bravely and professionally controlled the passenger train at one of the dangerous railway tracks in the country, then the 2nd explosive device blown up.” Divisional Superintendent Quetta Division Wasif Ali Mughal said adding no casualty was reported in twin explosions.

Railway official’s headed by DS Quetta and Security personnel rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. The blast suspended train service across the province as many arriving and departing trains were intercepted at Sibi and Kolpur Railway Stations.

Bomb Disposal Team has conducted security clearance of the railway track adding 10 to 15 feet railway track was partially damaged in the double blast but sleepers in the track have completely destroyed.

“The railway staff rushed to the spot, after repairing the track we have restored train service on Quetta-Punjab and Karachi railway track for passenger trains.” DS Quetta Wasif Ali Mughal said announcing appreciation reward for the driver who controlled the train.

So far no group claimed the responsibility of the attack till the file was reported but Baloch separatist groups remained fervent in attacking Punjab bound trains on Bolan section.

After security clearance the Frontier Corps Balochistan has granted permission of resuming train service. The double blast caused hours of delay in train service from Balochistan.
