ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Friday said that all the judges will be held accountable as the Supreme Judicial Council is very active now.

While hearing a case pertaining to the high court’s supervisory role over district courts, the top judge said people are crying for justice.

Bench No. 1 of Supreme Court (SC) has wrapped up about 7000 cases but when we ask the judges, they say only 20 cases have been concluded so far, he added.

CJP said that the high courts have badly failed to play their supervisory role and that the concerned committees are also not monitoring their performances.

Every judge demands car, bungalow and other incentives but they are not giving their best for judiciary, he continued.

He also warned of action under Article 209 against those judges who issue verdicts on very few cases.
