Naval chief Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi was conferred with the “King Abdul Aziz medal of excellence” by the chief of General Staff Royal Saudi Armed Forces General Fayyad Al-Ruwaili in Riyadh on Tuesday.

Admiral Abbasi is on an official visit to Saudi Arabia.

Admiral Abbasi and General al-Ruwaili met to discuss how to improve bilateral defence ties.

General Al-Ruwaili lauded the robust ties between the two countries based on defence foundations and historical ties.

The army chief appreciated Pakistan’s contributions in spearheading various initiatives to maintain peace and stability in the region.

Later on, Admiral Abbasi visited the Royal Saudi Naval Forces headquarters where he was received by the Commander Royal Saudi Naval Forces Vice Admiral Fahad Abdullah Al Ghofaily and was given a guard of honour.

The navy chiefs discussed bilateral naval collaboration and security environment in Indian Ocean region.

Al-Ghofaily appreciated the Pakistan Navy’s role in maritime security and stability in the region.

He acknowledged the training support being provided by the Pakistan Navy and lauded the success of the Exercise Naseem-al-Bahr by the two navies in Gulf waters.
