Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) wants Punjab’s Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah to immediately resign after the shocking revelations of the Model Town inquiry tribunal report.

In a tweet Wednesday, Khan said, “After the Najafi Report revelations, CM [Punjab] Shahbaz Sharif and Rana Sanaullah should immediately resign for killing Pakistani citizens.”

The Model Town inquiry tribunal report, made public on Tuesday (December 5) after three years, squared blame particularly on Rana Sanaullah as well as the Punjab Police for the 2014 incident in which 14 supporters of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) were killed.

The inquiry tribunal, headed by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi of the Lahore High Court (LHC), had submitted the 132-page report in the same year, but the Punjab government did not make it public.

The main question deliberated in the report remained how the order to use force to disperse the protesters came about, and whether Shehbaz Sharif gave the orders for the police to disengage and why these were not communicated to those on the ground.

Protest outside Civil Secretariat Lahore

Dozens of PAT workers and supporters, seeking the Najafi Report, have been protesting outside the Civil Secretariat Lahore.

According to Express News, the PAT workers are also chanting slogans against the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government.

Meanwhile, a heavy contingent of the police has been deployed outside the secretariat to meet any untoward incident.
