QUETTA: Mian Saqib Nisar, the Chief Justice of Pakistan, has called for enhanced efforts to fight terrorism and defeat it before it damages the country. He said the enemy is using terrorism as a means to disrupt law and order, public safety and retard the economic growth in this country. The designs of the enemy should be frustrated, he said.

Addressing a reference, organized by various bar associations, in connection with the anniversary of 73 slain people, including 56 eminent lawyers, here in Quetta Tuesday, he paid glowing tributes to martyrs of August 8 last year. A suicide bomber struck a huge gathering of people, dominated by the lawyers’ community, when they assembled at the Civil Hospital to receive the body of late Bilal Anwar Kasi, a leading lawyer of Balochistan. He was earlier ambushed and gunned down on the spot by a trained terrorist.

The Chief Justice said that there is a pressing to tackle the issue of terrorism and take the people to task supporting and abetting the crime against humanity. He said that politicians, lawyers, judiciary and security agencies should join hands and play their effective role in defeating terrorism. He strongly condemned the act of terrorism in which more than 70 people lost their lives in Quetta in a single action.

Justice Saqib Nisar said he finds no words to pay rich tributes to the martyred of Quetta saying that they played a big role in extending justice to the needy people of Balochistan.

He specifically advised the senior lawyers to train their juniors and do their proper training and upbringing to compensate the losses Balochistan suffered following the suicide attack on the entire community. Balochistan lost its finest legal minds in a single incident and the society, mainly the senior lawyers will have to compensate it, the Chief Justice of Pakistan said. He said proper training of young lawyers is necessary for cheap and affordable justice to the people.

Justice Saqib Nisar said he came to know about the suicide attack on lawyer on 11 in the forenoon and next day he rushed to Quetta and seen with his own eyes the people mourning their dead and at a wide scale. He said he prayed to God for the dead people killed in a suicide attack.

The Chief Justice said that he is an old man and still feeling the shock of death of his parents. How can young people forget the dead in the suicide attack on the innocent people? He posed a pertinent question why the present system and the country could not defend the innocent people.

He said that the justice system is divided between the Bar and the Bench and he said he sees the Bar is segregated and found it crippled and paralyzed. The reason is that the Bar had lost its outstanding and senior member in the attack. The society will have to compensate the losses by imparting proper training to the young lawyers.

“By obtaining a law degree, one cannot become a lawyer,” the Chief Justice told the highly attentive gathering. The young lawyers will have to learn from their seniors and at this point he specifically mentioned the name of Mr. Kamran Murteza and Riaz Ahmed Advocate present on the occasion. They will have to fulfill their responsibilities to train the young lawyers.

For integrity and solidarity of Pakistan, terrorism should be defeated, he said. He said enemy is for complete destruction of Pakistan and oppose to see this country as a prosperous and peaceful State in this region. If terrorism is not checked and defeated, then the future generations would find nothing in this country, the Chief Justice of Pakistan warned.

He said we have to fight the terrorists as a united and strong nation and all the security agencies will have to play their role in this fight.

At the end, the Chief Justice of Pakistan had directed the judicial academies to prepare special programme for training the young lawyers. He called protecting the lives of judges, lawyers and common people without any discrimination and there should be no degree of preferences.
