QUETTA: The Balochistan United Front staged a noisy demonstration outside the Afghan Consulate in Quetta on Saturday condemning the unprovoked firing and shelling on the Pakistani citizens by the Afghan forces killing 12 persons and wounding more than 40 people.

The demonstrators were carrying placards and banners and shouted slogans against the Afghan security forces for killing innocent people residing in the border areas.

Mr. Shams Mengal, a leader of the Balochistan United Front, addressed the protesters condemning the uncalled for attack on the civilians and termed it a military aggression on the civilian population.

He said that lobbing shells and resorting to indiscriminate firing on the unarmed civilians in the border is nothing but simple terrorism.

Mr. Mengal said that Pakistan is a peace loving country and always tried to retain good and brotherly relations with immediate neighbours. Pakistan still desires peace and prosperity for the Afghan people, Mr. Mengal told the protesters.

He claimed that the Afghan forces had launched an attack on Pakistan at the behest of the Indian Government and its security establishment. They raised slogans of long live Pakistan and Pakistan Army. They later dispersed peacefully.
