Joint Border Trade body meeting in Chabahar cancelled

QUETTA: The meeting of the Joint Border Trade Committee in the Iranian city of Chabahar was canceled after the issue of violation of Pakistan’s territory by Iran came to light. The Pakistani delegation left the meeting unfinished and returned home.

The Pakistani delegation also apologized for participating in the Chabahar Free Zone Festival.

Deputy Commissioner Gwadar Major Retired Aurangzeb Badini, a member of the Pakistani delegation who participated in the meeting of the Joint Border Trade Committee in Chabahar, Iran, said that after the issue of violation of airspace by Iran in the Panjgur region, it was discussed in Chabahar on Tuesday. The meeting of the Joint Border Trade Committee was adjourned on Tuesday.

The Pakistani delegation left the meeting and returned home. Aurangzeb Badini said that the Pakistani delegation was supposed to participate in the Chabahar Free Zone Festival, but after receiving instructions from the federal government, the delegation declined to participate in the Chabahar Free Zone Festival. Now he has returned to Gwadar.

In the Joint Border Trade Committee meeting, the 35-member delegation of Pakistan was led by Chief Collector Aftab Iqbal Memon, DC Gwadar Aurangzeb Badini, and representatives of Gwadar and Quetta Chamber of Commerce were also included in the delegation.
