A sizeable number of people are expressing serious complaints that they are being discriminated on their own homeland and with passage of time such complaints are growing.

A powerful Mafia had been blamed for discriminatory action denying the legitimate rights to the deserving people for the past many years. Mafia had emerged more powerful after getting unqualified support from a section of the establishment with a task to harass qualified and deserving people.

The announcement more than a year ago that the Government would provide 35,000 jobs proved to be a hoax and a propaganda ploy to hoodwink the public opinion.

Besides it, the qualified and educated people claim discrimination in getting jobs. In order to deny job opportunities to the majority of people according to the size of population, the fraud of merit is being used by some more crook officers publicly rejecting the decades’

old and established order of merit on Divisional and District basis. One of the political appointees had issued an order to fill 20 posts on open and general merit basis discarding the divisional and district quota system for the more backed areas and weaker section of the people. There are massive complaints against recruitment in the Balochistan Assembly where jobs were sold to potential buyers for more than a decade or jobs were given only to the kith and kin of the top officials.

The District Quota on population basis is functioning since the One Unit days in which the legitimate interests of the backward communities and regions had been protected by ensuring seats in the professional colleges in Balochistan and in other provinces, jobs on the basis of district Quota.

Now a Mafia had developed a deep contempt and out to deny the legitimate rights of backward communities and least developed areas usurping their rights with the support of powerful establishment. There are complaints against the University of Balochistan, the IT Universities and lately from the BolanMedicalCollege.

The students are registering their unending protest by taking out rallies and staging demonstrations to expose the discriminatory acts of powerful Mafia. Since the inception of IT University only by closing down the Quetta Textile Mills and permanently closing the faith of around 20,000 mill workers, the University was established with a commitment to reject district and Divisional quota and give admission to students only from Quetta and its surrounding.

The Chief Minister should take serious notice to all these irregularities and the members of the Balochistan Assembly should defend the legitimate rights of the people against the powerful Mafia trying to grab tens of thousands of jobs and deny quality education to disadvantaged students from the backward communities and least developed area.

This realization had come only after wasting seven long decades. Let us hope that the rulers and current will be able to resolve this issue before any disaster on the political front.
