QUETTA: Due to lack of rain and rapidly decreasing water level has rang drought’s alarming bells in major parts of Balochistan that could be turned further worsen in near future.

QUETTA: Due to lack of rain and rapidly decreasing water level has rang drought’s alarming bells in major parts of Balochistan that could be turned further worsen in near future.

Quetta, Gwadar, Pasni, Ormara, Jewani, Turbat, Khuzdar and other major cities of Balochistan have been hit by worse drought as the a large of Balochistan has been deprived of rain from more than half a year.

Many Environmental Experts have been stressing upon building dams on emergency basis as the province could be out of water in near future turning the province with major affected by climate change.

According to a report on Climate Change compiled by Environmental Experts revealed, water level in various regions of Balochistan including Quetta, Gwaadar Khuzdar and Zhob has been decreasing rapidly which might cause major influx of local to other provinces due to water stress in Balochistan.

“Agriculture and Livestock have been facing alarming situation as many animals were dying and farmers were compelled to leave their profession as lack of rain turned Balochistan as water free.” Experts says.

The Metrological Department has reported that, the province has received less rain during 2018 while low rains were recorded in areas located on monsoon regions.

The local farmers claimed that hundreds of apple trees have dried due to drought in Balochistan and the production of local apple has decreased up to six lakh tons in Balochistan which destroyed the business of local farmers.

The farmers and environmental experts have been demanding effective policies by the province government to control end drought from Balochistan.
