QUETTA: Commissioner Quetta Division Mohammad Hashim Ghalzai on Wednesday said that government is taking concrete measures to protect temples, churches and gurdwaras (Sikh temples) from Terrorist attacks and to rebuild those that activists destroyed.

He expressed these views while presiding over the meeting organized to review the security arrangements of Minorities religious institutions in Quetta. In the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Quetta (R) Tahir Abassi, SSP Security Nasibullah Khan and representatives of Minorities were also present.

“We have already deployed police to worship places, which has improved security greatly,” he said.

“The government is determined to foil terrorist attempts to damage properties and to prevent [worshipers] from visiting their sacred places,” he said.

He said that “Our prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) instructed his followers to respect other religions and provide worshipers security,”

He said that in connection to this matter the church administration should submit applications for issuance of arms license on immediate basis for their private guards.

He said that government is also developing comprehensive strategic plan for training their private guards.

“The government has deployed special security for minorities so they can come and go to their worship places without any fear,” he said.

The move aims to safeguard the rights of minorities, promote religious harmony and raise living standards, he said.

He further directed Metropolitan Corporation to take initiatives for keeping minorities worship places clean and unpolluted.
