QUETTA: Mir Abdul Qudus Bizenjo, a member of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) was elected as Speaker while Sardar Babar Musa Khail, a member of Pakistan Tehriek-e-Insaaf (PTI) was elected as Deputy Speaker Provincial Assembly, on Thursday
The newly elected Assembly’s second session met here to elect Provincial Assembly’s Speaker and Deputy Speaker. The Session was chaired by the outgoing Speaker Ms. Raheela Hamid Durrani.
Former Chief Minister Balochistan and candidate of six coalition parties Mir Abdul Qudus Bizenjo secured 39 votes out of total 59 beating his opponent BNP Mengal and MMA’s joint candidate Muhammad Nawaz Kakar who received 20 votes.
Outgoing Speaker of Balochistan Assembly Ms. Raheela Durrani took oath from Mr. Bizenjo who presented national flag as gift to her and shook hands with all MPAs after the announcement of his victory as Speaker.
“Fortunately today we have completed another democratic phase of Provincial Assembly, I want to ensure all members of the Assembly whether treasury and opposition benches that the Assembly will continue its tradition and tribal custom as we have been pursuing for past many decades,” the 16th elected Speaker of BA Qudus Bizenjo addressed to the members after taking oath.
He said that he would treat government and opposition members on equal footings and would prove impartiality in running Assembly proceedings, adding that no one would be allowed to break the rules and law of the sacred house of Balochistan.
Meanwhile PTI’s Sardar Babar Musakhail was elected as Deputy Speaker of the house after clinching 36 votes while BNP Mengal’s candidate Ahmed Nawaz Baloch secured 21 votes.
Newly elected Speaker Assembly Mir Abdul Qudus Bizenjo took oath from Mr. Babar Musa Khail and congratulated him over his victory as his Deputy Speaker.
