KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Nominated Candidate for Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah was elected as Chief Minister Sindh for the second consecutive term with a heavy margin by securing 97 votes while his rival Opposition Leader Shaharyar Khan Mahar of Grand Democratic Alliance begged 61 votes.

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Nominated Candidate for Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah was elected as Chief Minister Sindh for the second consecutive term with a heavy margin by securing 97 votes while his rival Opposition Leader Shaharyar Khan Mahar of Grand Democratic Alliance begged 61 votes.

The sindh Assembly session was started on Thursday presided by Speaker Aga Siraj Durrani. During the assembly session the voting process was started for the selection of Leader of the House, the voting process was started for the CM Sindh in assembly,  The MPAs who voted to Murad Ali Shah they were directed to enter from Right door and the people who casted their vote for his rival candidate Shehyar Mehar they allowed to use left door for vote. On this occasion secretary Sindh assembly announced the name of the people and handed over cards to them for voting.

PPP Nominated Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah got 97 votes and his rival candidate Shehyar Mehar got 61 votes, while Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) three MPAs and Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) MPA Syed Abdul Rasheed has not participated in voting process. Whereas the Muttahida Opposition’s two female candidates Shaheena Ashar and PTI MPA Dr, Seema Zia has not take oath yet. Two PTI Candidates Imran Ismail and Raja Azhar have not reached to Assembly for casting their votes.

PPP has fielded Murad Ali Shah for the office of chief minister for the second time on the promise to deliver on the party’s ambitious manifesto. It was smooth sailing for the PPP as it has increased its representation in the assembly to 97 in the house of 168. Shah previously served as the chief minister from July 29, 2016 to May 28, 2018.

After his election as Leader of the House, Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed his gratitude to the MPAs for reposing their confidence in him and assured to serve the people of Sindh without any discrimination. PPP is the most popular party of the province; he said adding that we begged 3.9 million votes, 20 percent more than 2013.

While Speaking at Sindh Assembly after electing as Leader of the House, Syed Murad Ali Shah said that “Pakistan People’s Party has served the Perplex of sindh pas ten years, PPP have received heavy mandate third time in Sindh. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has focused and directed to resolve the issues of the People of Sindh, adding that Sindh government will deliver in a better way in Sindh now, CM Sindh added.

Murad Ali Shah said” I wish to sit on the chair of Speaker, My father was served as Chief Minister Sindh, My father Started political career with Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. I have got this post just because the prayers of my Mother, he said.

Newly Elected Chief Minister Sindh said that” Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah has made Pakistan after hardworking and devotion, After Jinnah the small provinces were not given the basic rights. If basic rights were provided to the small provinces the devolution of Bangladesh was not happened in 1971, he highlighted.

Shah added that we should follow the 1973 constitution, PPP believed on democracy in the country. We have consciences with Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) but we will work together for the betterment of Province. We will bring some legislative changes in Police reforms in Sindh. Water crises is big issue in Sindh, PPP government will resolve water issue as it already mentioned in PPP manifesto, Murad Ali Shah assured.

Later, Members belonging to opposition parties including Shaheryar Mahar of Grand Democratic Alliance and those from PTI, MQM and MMA also spoke on the occasion. Felicitating the newly elected CM, they assured to stand by him in matters that may be in the interest of Sindh and its people.
