QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Alauddin Marri handed over the documents of 20 acres land allocated for the Balochistan Union of Journalists (BUJ) Scheme to members of BUJ members here at Quetta Press Club.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the journalists have a fundamental role to play in the society and those journalists who have laid down their lives in the line of duty cannot be seen with less importance than the martyrs of the forces.

He said that true passion can lead to accomplishment of any task however difficult, adding that collective thinking has vanished from the society, stressing upon the journalists to play their role for the promotion of collective thinking.

He said that he was cognizant of the role of journalists as they play their role for the reformation of the society, adding that martyrs of security forces and journalism are equal in rank and they stay live in our hearts.

He said that despite a short term of two and half months, he had worked honestly to serve the people of this province and he had avoided using media for self promotion during his short tenure, adding that during his tenure two big incidents took place and he couldn’t sleep for three days and nights owing.

He said that in Balochistan’s bureaucracy, many people are still reluctant to benefit from the modern technology, adding that the world had landed on moon and USA is thinking of transporting minerals from moon but people of this province still don’t have decent facilities of potable water.

He said that the file for journalists scheme was misplaced and he had made it afresh, adding that about 13 people had lost their lives from a single family in Mastung incidents and media should play its role for showing their aggrieved lives. He also added that DNA tests of 20 people couldn’t be carried out yet.

President BUJ Khalid Ahmed expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister for making their 30 years long struggle a reality, adding that their senior colleagues had long struggled for this project.
