QUETTA: A former Senator and leader of Awami National Awami Party (ANP), Dawood Khan Achakzai injured in firing in Jungle Pir Alizai area of Qila Abdullah district, on Monday.

QUETTA: A former Senator and leader of Awami National Awami Party (ANP), Dawood Khan Achakzai injured in firing in Jungle Pir Alizai area of Qila Abdullah district, on Monday.

Sources said that unknown armed men opened fire on the guest house of ex-senator where he was sleeping in the morning, resulting in injuring the ANP leader.

The personal security guards who were present in the guest house immediately retaliated and after taking positions returned fire on that assailants escaped from the site.

The injured senator was immediately shifted to Provincial Civil Hospital Quetta for treatment. “ Injured ANP leader Dawood Khan Achakzai is admitted and his condition is out of damager,” doctor attended him said.

A former MPA and close relative of Ex-senator Zamarak Khan Piralizai confirmed the firing of unknown armed men at the guest house of Dawood Achakzai and said that he got injured in the firing. “Armed men escaped from the scene when personal security guards retaliated and returned fire,” Mr. Piralizai said.

Zamarak Khan Piralizai, the former deputy opposition leader in the Balochistan Assembly is contesting from Qila Abdullah for the Provincial Assembly third time. He had elected twice form the same constituency in 2008 and 2013.

Levies officials, who rushed to the site after receiving information about the firing on the guest house of ex-senator have registered a case against unknown armed men and started investigation. No arrest was reported.

The ANP Balochistan President Muhammad Asghar Khan Achakzai and Ex-MPA Zamarak Khan Achakzai have strongly condemned firing at Ex-Senator’s guest house and termed it terrorist act. They demanded an inquiry into the firing incident and arrest of the assailants.
