QUETTA: At least 128 people including BAP’s leader Nawabzada Siraj Raisani were killed and 130 people injured as a suicide bomber struck the rally corner of meeting of Siraj Riasani in Dringarh some 35km far from the Provincial capital on Friday.

Home Minister Agha Umer Bangulzai has confirmed around 128 people were killed and 130 others sustained injuries in suicide blast.

Election Candidate of Balochistan Awami Party from PB 35 Mastung Nawabzada Siraj Raisani was attending a corner meeting in Dringarh village of Mastung District after Friday prayers.

At least 128 people were killed and 130 injured in the deadliest attack on a political rally in Balochistan ever reported.

Provincial Information Minister Malik Kuram Shehzad has said it was suicide blast on Siraj Raisani corner meeting during election campaign.

“Nawabzada Siraj Raisani was attending a corner meeting in Drangarh, he was about to step over the stage to address his workers, the suicide bomber disguised as political worker blew his suicide vest.” Qaim Lashari DC Mastung said.

He added, Nawabzada Siraj Raisani critically injured in the blast but succumbed to his injuries as he was being shifted to Combine Military Hospital (CMH) Quetta.

Footages emerged from the blast spot showed dozens of bodies were laying on the floor and people were desperately looking for their loved ones in Dringarh.

“I was sitting inside my house after Friday prayers when I heard a powerful explosion, I rushed to spot and bodies were laying down every in the spot where Mr. Siraj Raisani was holding a corner meeting.” Samiullah an eyewitness lives near the blast spot told Journalists.

“We evacuated the bodies and injured in private vehicles as Ambulances had arrived too late.” He added.

Islamic State of Iraq and Lavanat known as ISIS claimed responsibility of the attack in their Amaaq website. Security Agencies issued threat alert regarding ISIS attack in Quetta three days back.

According to bomb disposal squad up to 15kg explosive material was used in the blast which cases a large number of casualties as the corner meeting was packed with public.

Interim Chief Minister Balochistan Alla ud Din Mari and Home Minister Agha Umar Bangulzai condemned that attack on Siraj Raisani’s political rally and directed security forces to secure the election campaigns being held in Balochistan following general elections.

“We can’t ignore foreign involvement in today’s tragic attack in Mastung but the Provincial Government is utilizing all efforts to security election environment in Balochistan.” Alla ud Din Marri said.

He directed security officials to investigate all aspects of Mastung attack and present the report on immediate basis.

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwas also condemned the heinous attack in Mastung and showed his grieve on the loos of precious life.

“Pakistan lost a highly devoted and capable politician Siraj Raisani and attempts of inimical forces to detail important democratic activity shall not succeed.” Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa said and urged the nation to show unity.

The bodies and injured had been evacuated to Civil Hospital Quetta, Bolan Medical Hospital and Nawab Ghos Buksh Raisani Hospital Mastung while emergency had been declared in government hospitals of the Quetta.

“At least 70 bodies had been arrived in Civil Hospital, 12 in BMC while 34 bodies had been shifted to Ghos Buksh Raisani Hospital Mastung and two including Nawabzad Siraj Raisani were evacuated to CMH.” Dr Maula Buksh Siyal Police surgeon BMC, Dr. Ali Mardan Police surgeon Civil Hospital and other hospital sources added.

The injured are being treated in Quetta Civil Hospital’s trauma center and Bolan Medical Complex Hospital.

Nawabzada Siraj Raisani was contestion General Election from PB 35 Mastung believed to be heart of Balochistan’s politics. He merged his Political Party Balochistan Mutihada Mahaz with Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) last month. Siraj Raisani was contesting election against his elder brother former Chief Minister Balochistan and Chief of Sarawan Nawab Aslam Raisani.

“Tribal chief are being elected from their constituencies even my Nawab was the Chief Minister but the plight of people of Mastung still like stone ages.” Nawabzada Siraj Raisani said in last interview and pledged to contest his first election with a development vision for his people.

Nawabzada Siraj Raisani’s escaped last attack on his life on 29 July 2011 when his convoy was attack with bomb and firing attacks in Mastung but his son Nawabzada Haqmal Raisani was killed in the attack.

Balochistan Awami Party has strongly condemned the deadliest attack on its corner meeting and termed the attack a tragedy for Balochistaan.

“Nawabzada Siraj Raisani was a strong patriotic personality in Balochistan and he picked up Pakistani flag during a time when our province was under gripped of nationalist violence.” President BAP Jam Kamal Aliyani said and announced three days of mourning against Mastung suicide blast.

BAP has postponed its Political Rally announced for Saturday July 14.

“We strongly condemn such elements attempting to disturb election activities in the country, all political parties should come forward to move forward against terrorists.” Jam Kamal said and added people loss in this large number is an unforgettable tragedy for Pakistan.

Founder of Balochistan Awami Party Saeed Hashmi said, to defeat these elements attempting to detail the election process in the country, all political parties should get united and condemn these attacks.

“We all have to show our utmost attempts to support country’s democracy and we all have to get united against our internal and external enemies killing innocent lives.” Hashmi added.

On Thursday unknown persons hurled a hand grenade on BAP’s election office in Khuzdar which left two injured.
