Usman kakar shows concern over growing mother and child deaths in Balochistan

QUETTA: The Federal and provincial government have to play their due role in controlling nutrition in Balochistan, the provincial nutrition program must be expanded throughout the province. Senator Usman Kakar said.


QUETTA: The Federal and provincial government have to play their due role in controlling nutrition in Balochistan, the provincial nutrition program must be expanded throughout the province. Senator Usman Kakar said.

“The Provincial Nutrition program is limited in only seven districts of the province and mother and children deaths and maternal complexities rest of other districts are continued.” Senator Usman Kakar added.

He shared these views while addressing one day seminar held to discuss mother and child health in Balochistan in which Parliamentary Committee members and political parties’ representatives and members of International donor agencies also participated.

Lauding the contribution of International donors in revamping health and food plight in Balochistan Usman Kakar said,

“UNICEF, WHO, World Food Program and Australian Aid are performing their responsibilities in eradicating food insecurity in Balochistan but the government and health department should also understand their duties.”

Addressing the seminar Secretary Health Saleh Nasir said, the provincial government commenced Provincial Nutrition Program to halt growing mother and child deaths during maternity in Balochistan,

“Though the Program is limited in seven district but following available resources it would be expanded in other districts as well.”

Sharing his comment in the seminar head of the provincial nutrition program Ali Nasir Bugti said, Pakistan has high ratio in terms of nutrition and Balochistan is among the top area where mother and child deaths are more in number than other provinces,

“Pregnant women should eat food full of calcium, vitamin which is imperative for both mother and child health, we have to launch awareness campaigns in rest of Balochistan regarding mother and child health and food insecurity grappled Balochistan.
