Three suicide blasts in one hour leave six police men martyred in Quetta

QUETTA: At least six Balochistan Constabulary personnel were killed and 15 among eight FC soldiers injured in triple suicide bombings in Mian Ghundi and Airport road on Tuesday.

QUETTA: At least six Balochistan Constabulary personnel were killed and 15 among eight FC soldiers injured in triple suicide bombings in Mian Ghundi and Airport road on Tuesday.

The first incident of double suicide attacks occurred in Mian Ghundi outskirts of the provincial capital where a two suicide bombers struck on FC check-points injuring eight FC soldiers,

“The firs suicidal blew himself up near Security Checkpoint, minutes later the 2nd suicidal opened firing on forces, on retaliation he too detonated his suicide vest.” DIG Quetta Abdul Razzaq Cheema said.

A heavy contingent of law enforcement agencies rushed the spot and shifted eight Frontier Corps (FC) injured personnel to Combine Military Hospital (CMH).

An hour later Balochistan Constabulary (BC) truck carrying personnel after performing duties was hit by a suicide explosion at Airport road the most heavily guarded vicinity of the provincial capital.

The suicide bomber believed to be on motorbike hit the BC truck killing six BC personnel injuring 07 in the 2nd attack of 2018 on BC force.

Rescue workers rushed the spot and shifted the bodies and injured to Civil Hospital for medical treatment while Law Enforcement Agencies along with Bomb Disposal squad cordoned off the area.

“The Balochistan Constabulary personnel were returning from duty as security beefed up at Airport following the arrival of Prime Minister Azad Kashmir in Quetta.” Abdul Razzaq Cheema said while talking to media at the blast spot.

The dead BC personnel were identified as Nisar Ahmed, Jamal Khan, Shah Noor, Ahmed Ali, Aideen Khan, Ashiq Ali and Zahoor Ahmed. One of the wounded soldiers is said to be in critical condition and being treated in Trauma Center.

Bomb Disposal Squad confirmed that up to 10 to 15kg explosive material was used in the attack against security personnel.

“Every area in Quetta city is sensitive in terms of security challenges but our forces are performing their duties to protect the lives and property of people of Balochistan.” Cheema said.

At least 07 BC men were killed on January 09 after a suicide attacker rammed on a parked security force’s truck in Quetta’s Zarghoon road.

So far no group claimed responsibility of the attack but ISIS has surged its attacks against minority Christians living in Quetta and Hazara community.
