QUETTA  : Health Secretary Saleh Muhammad Nasir has said that proper arrangements need to be made for implementing the Balochistan Nutrition Programme for Women and Children in other districts of the province.

QUETTA  : Health Secretary Saleh Muhammad Nasir has said that proper arrangements need to be made for implementing the Balochistan Nutrition Programme for Women and Children in other districts of the province.

“A clear perception of responsibilities is vital in order to change priorities,” said the health secretary while addressing a progress review conference regarding the Balochistan Nutrition Programme on Monday.

Balochistan Nutrition Programme provincial chief Dr Ali Nasir Bugti, programme manager Dr Sabinah Baloch, Unicef Health Specialist Dr Amir Akram, Dr Faisal Shahwani, NGO Coordinator Shah Muhammad and others participated in the conference.

Nasir said, “By developing a clear perception the Balochistan Nutrition Programme can serve the people in a better way.”

He said that the programme was the need of the hour.

Taking over the podium, the programme chief said, “Screening of 254,615 children under the age of five years has been done. Of them, 11,433 children have been treated and discharged.”

He said that of 127,307 expectant and breastfeeding women screened, 112,329 mothers had been treated and provided medicine.

He said that the nutrition programme was covering seven districts –Zhob, Qilla Saifullah, Panjgur, Sibi, Kohlu, Kharan and Noshki.

He urged all concerned departments to perform better in the field of nutrition.
