Annually 27000 new TB cases emerging in Balochistan

QUETTA: Provincial Manager TB Control Program Government of Balochistan Dr. Sultan Ahmed Lehri has revealed on Wednesday that in 2017 total 10644 new Tuberculosis patients have registered under Provincial TB Control program while annually 27000 new cases have been emerging from Balochistan.

QUETTA: Provincial Manager TB Control Program Government of Balochistan Dr. Sultan Ahmed Lehri has revealed on Wednesday that in 2017 total 10644 new Tuberculosis patients have registered under Provincial TB Control program while annually 27000 new cases have been emerging from Balochistan.

Flanked with Provincial Technical Officer TB Program Dr. Ahmed Wali and other program members Provincial Manager Dr. Sultan Ahmed Lehri said, we have established 54 free camps in Quetta and its surrounding areas where daily 6 to 9 hundreds Tuberculosis patients are being treated daily and getting free medicines.

“The figures have been increasing with each passing day as TB patients from Iran and Afghanistan often visit Balochistan for treatment.” Dr. Sultan Ahmed Lehri said whild addressing a press conference here in Quetta Press Club.

Sharing the details of Provincial TB Control Program Dr Sultan and his team members said, there was a dangerous type of Tuberculosis that was impossible to treat in Balochistan, “Many patients found with Drug Resistance TB had to travel other cities for medical check-up and tests but Provincial TB Control Program has establish modern laboratories in Quetta and other cities where free test facility has given to patients.”

He continued that, the diseased only could be controlled after sharing precautions and awareness among the people of Balochistan.
