QUETTA: The Chief Minister, Mir Quddus Bizenjo, has said that the change in the Balochistan Government was meant to bring a qualitative change in security affairs making the province secure protecting the life and property of the people

Addressing a meeting on the law and order situation, the Chief Minister asked the concerned officials not offer mere traditional explanations on security lapses.

“It is not enough and they have to bring improvement. I am least bothered what had happened in the past,” he told participants of the meeting which reviewed the law and order with a special reference to killing female polio workers and martyrdom of two personnel of the Balochistan Constabulary. They were targeted and shot over the bridge by terrorists on bike.

The Chief Minister said that the police had to remove all bottlenecks in maintenance of public order retaining credible security in the Province.

“What had happened in the past Government had nothing to do with him,” Mir Quddus Bizenjo said.

The meeting was attended by the Home Minister, Secretary Home, IG Police, Commissioner, Quetta Division, Deputy Commissioner and officials from the intelligence agencies. It was held at the CM Secretariat on Thursday.

The Chief Minister extended a specific warning to the District Police Officers, Deputy Commissioners and all district officers to give more attention to maintenance of security of life and property of the people.

He sarcastically remarked that most of them were found more interested in collection of gratification on the check posts and least bothered about the security of people.

Mr. Bizenjo held responsible for the area police officers, including the DPO and their subordinates for any lapse and negligence. He reiterated his pledge to improve the service of Police and Levies upgrading their skill in fighting terror in all parts of Balochistan.

He pledged to give a free hand to the police in performing their professional duties and there would be no interference in their professional duties.

Mr. Bizenjo had strongly condemned the act of target killing saying that our religion forbids such heinous crime against humanity, mainly killing females and people from weaker section of our society.

He directed the police and other law enforcing agencies to unearth the real culprits involved in acts of terrorism, their facilitators, masterminds and destroy their hideout if found anywhere.

The terrorists should be confronted on war footing and if need be, we are ready to slash our development budget and divert funds in fight against terror making Balochistan a peaceful place to live.

Earlier, the police and other officials briefed the Chief Minister on providing compensation to the polio workers martyred in Quetta on Thursday.
