QUETTA: At least four people including two BC personnel and female polio worker with her daughter gunned down in Quetta on Thursday during two separate firing incidents.

In the first attack, armed men targeted Balochistan Constabulary personnel at Balochistan Flyover in early hours of Thursday while they were in-way to duty.

“The attackers riding on motorbike sprayed bullets on BC men and managed to escape. Two BC men Constable Muhammad Ilyas and Spoy Shoukat Ali were killed on the spot and another soldier Javed sustained bullet injuries.” Police said.

A heavy contingent of Law Enforcement Agencies flanked with rescue workers rushed the spot and shifted the bodies and injured to Civil Hospital.

Attacks on Police force continued with its full intensity in 2018. Police Constable Naseer Ahmed was shot dead on Tuesday while two BC personnel were attacked on the same spot Balochistan Flyover on January.

Hours later of Police Killings, unknown persons attacked on a mother and her daughter female Polio health worker participating in Anti-Polio campaign in Hazar Ganji the outskirts of the provincial capital.

“The mother and daughter were performing as Community Health Workers (CHW) and they were deployed to administrate children with Anti-Polio drops in their respective areas.” IG Police Muzzam Jah Ansari.

The bodies of slain mother and her daughter Sakeena and Rizwan were evacuated to Bolan Medical Complex (BMC) Hospital for autopsy.

“At least 1200 Polio teams have been participating in the on-going Anti-Polio drive, while security had already been provided to all teams.” IG Police said and added, Sakeena and Rizwan were attacked near from their residence because CHWs are appointed to cover areas near to their house.

So far no group claimed responsibility of the attack on female Polio workers, but polio teams had been attacked in Balochistan in past years. Four Female Polio workers were killed in a firing attack in November in the same Hazar Ganji area. At least  15 people including Policemen were killed in a suicide attack near a Health Center in Satellite Town area on January 2016. The suicidal blew his suicide vest outside the health center where anti-polio drive was about to kicked-off.

“We have been investigating the similarity in both attacks, we will take action against the perpetrators after identifying which group carried-out these two attacks.” Muzzam Jah Ansari added.

Paramilitary troops Frontier Corps and Police have launched a joint search operation in the Hazara Ganji area after the incident occurred.
