London Mayor Sadiq Khan arrived in Pakistan on Wednesday for a three-day official visit.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan arrived in Pakistan on Wednesday for a three-day official visit.

The mayor, who is on a trade mission, reached Lahore with his 16-member delegation through the Wagah Border, Express Newsreported. The delegation was received by Lahore Mayor Colonel (retd) Mubashir at the border.

“We welcome Mayor Sadiq Khan from the historic city of London to the historic city of Lahore,” Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif tweeted.

While addressing the attendees with CM Shahbaz Sharif, Sadiq Khan stated saying that one of the biggest reasons why London is the greatest cities in the world is because of the contribution on Londoners who hail from Pakistan.

The mayor commended CM Punjab’s English as well and said:

Earlier this week, Khan visited India where he met top businessmen and celebrities of the country.

The visit is the first by the mayor of London to both South Asian rival countries in recent years. Khan is expected to stop over in Karachi and Islamabad.

The London mayor is accompanied by a team of British IT executives, who have been meeting politicians, investors and entrepreneurs in Pakistan and India to strengthen trade links with both countries.

The visit would also seek to boost investment and cultural exchange programmes between London and the sub-continent.
