Five main religious political parties had decided to revive the Mutheda Majlis Amal (MMA) in wake of the present political crisis in the country. Leaders of all the five main parties met in Karachi and decided to revive the MMA to achieve their common objectives.

The meeting was held at the residence of Shah Noorani in Karachi in which top leaders of the parties attended the significant meeting.

It was decided that the parties part of the coalition Governments at the Centre and the Provinces would leave the Government in a month time besides its common manifesto and administrative set up would be announced making it formally functional.

The establishment needed the MMA following the US invasion and occupation of Afghanistan from where the Taliban were dislodged as rulers. In a way, the frontiers with Afghanistan were made friendly by installing MMA or pro-Taliban Government in KPK and Balochistan.

Strangely, the MMA, mainly the JUI-F, won 19 Provincial assembly seats to consolidate its position in the Jam Yusuf Government. JUI was the real ruler in the Jam Yusuf Government dictating almost every decision.

The political climate is totally different as there are no elections in sight in near future. Thus there are least chances Ulema or their followers in the religious parties are gaining majority and forming the Government.

Presumably, the religious alliance is needed for two reasons—first to counter the US-India and Afghan alliance against Pakistan and also to counter the constant influence of two major secular parties of PML-N now ruling and the People’s Party.

A section of the power establishment is waging a war against both the dominating political parties using media and political opponents against them.

The PTI or Mr. Imran Khan is confined to tarnish and destroy the image of Nawaz Sharif and his Government from day one. He is regularly holding mass public meeting on every passing day to keep his pressure on PML-N and its leader Nawaz Sharif.

Lately, he had started attacking PPP with same severity and contempt as both the leading parties are not in the good book of the Establishment for obvious reasons. Pro-establishment elements lost all hopes that Imran Khan can deliver for the support he enjoyed against both the leading secular parties—the PPP and PML-N.

Thus he should be treated as a “One Man Demolition Squad” against PML-N Government and Nawaz Sharif. Visibly, he had succeeded in his mission to demolish Nawaz Sharif and his Government and thus his role is over. He should not be treated as an alternate political leader of the broad masses.

He lacks the temperament and capabilities of leadership and with an irresponsible and unpredictable behaviour in a civilized society. Thus his future is doomed. Thus, there is need for a parallel alliance of religious political parties in the shape of reviving the MMA, the readily available religious stuff playing a significant role in politics.

However, there is a strong need of political stability allowing all significant political forces to play their destined role in defending the integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan in this crisis which is more dangerous than we faced in 1971. There is need for a ‘collective wisdom’ to take the country out of the crisis.

Such serious issues should not be left for Imran Khan and Maulana Fazlur Rehman and tradition national and regional parties are allowed to play their role too in defending the legitimate interests of the people.

It is unfortunate that the Establishment developed a deep contempt towards the regional parties, mainly in Balochistan and KPK and denied them to play a positive role. They should not be pushed in the camps of adversaries on mere misleading presumptions.

Pakistan is a voluntary federation where the people of the Provinces are the rulers and not the public servants of different grades. It is in the legitimate interests of Pakistan that the regions, provinces and their people should also be taken in confidence in defending the country or making Pakistan a stable and prosperous Pakistan.
