QUETTA: The Acting SP Investigation City Muhammad Ilyas along with his wife, son and grandson were shot dead in the Nawan Killi area of the Provincial Capital on Wednesday.
Armed men riding on motorbike opened indiscriminate firing on SP Investigation Muhammad Ilyas’s private vehicle while he was heading towards Nawan Killi with family.
“As result of firing Acting SP Investigation Muhammad Ilyas, wife Raziya Bibi, Son Muhammad Adeel and grandson Abdul Wahab (06) were killed on the spot while his another granddaughter received bullet injuries.” Police added.
The attackers managed to escape unhurt after committing heinous crime.
A heavy contingent of Law Enforcement Agencies along with rescue workers rushed to the spot and the dead and injured had been evacuated to Civil Hospital Quetta.
“Acting SP Investigation was in his private vehicle with his family when they were targeted.” SP Investigation Quetta Jawad told media men at the crime scene.
He added, “It is premature to comment that whether he was facing any threats.”
The injured girls Marwa being treated in Trauma Center of Civil Hospital as she received severe bullet wounds.
So far no group claimed responsibility of the attack.
The heinous target killing is the 2nd attack on high-rank police officers in the provincial capital, last week DIG Communication Hamid Shakeel accompanied with two policemen were killed in a suicide attack in Chaman Housing Scheme.
At least 42 Police personnel including seven high-rank officers were killed in targeted killing attacks and suicide blast alone this year.
