QUETTA: A police inspector was gunned down by unidentified assailants on Quetta’s Qambrani road on Wednesday, shortly after an explosion targeting a police vehicle.

QUETTA: A police inspector was gunned down by unidentified assailants on Quetta’s Qambrani road on Wednesday, shortly after an explosion targeting a police vehicle.

Abdul Salam was shot multiple times, police said. His body has been shifted to Civil Hospital, Quetta.

Earlier today, at least seven people, including five security personnel, were martyred as an explosion ripped through a police truck in Quetta. At least 12, including nine policemen, were also injured in the attack, according to police sources.

The truck was carrying police recruits, five of whom were martyred, along with two passers-by on the city’s eastern outskirts, Quetta Police Chief Abdur Razzaq Cheema said.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi condemned the attack along with Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri and directed authorities to provide best medical treatment to the injured.
