The United States had carried out yet another drone attack on the Pakistani territory killing around 20 people in a village six miles inside Pakistan in Kurram Agency.

One militant namely Abu Bakr was reportedly killed along with score of other people in the US drone attack. Kurram Agency is the most strategic area for a link between Pakistan and Afghanistan as it remained an important trade route with Kabul.

At the same place, the security forces had rescued a Canadian/US family in a sting operation in the agency a few days back. The family was kidnapped some five years ago and rescued by the armed forces of Pakistan the other day.

It raised high hopes that relations between Pakistan and the United State will improve considerably leaving a positive impact on the future Pakistan-Afghanistan relations. The people of Pakistan were also happy to know that a kidnapped couple had been rescued from Taliban.

All of a sudden, the US carried out the second drone attack in the area during this year killing 20 people, presumably and mostly civilians. It sent a shock wave among the people of Pakistan as US was expected to pass on all information to Pakistan for credible action against the outlaws, terrorists and subversive elements posing any threat to the US forces inside Afghanistan.

But the Americans had decided to arbitrarily use the drone in destroying a target inside Pakistan which is, by all means, an attack on the sovereignty of the independent State. Naturally, such action will put strain in our relations with the US and Afghanistan if attacks continued from Afghanistan.

It is an unacceptable proposition that Pakistan will ignore the highly provocative acts and there is a limit to tolerance. At the same time, we will advice the Government of Pakistan to intensify its diplomatic efforts in seeking a political and peaceful solution to Afghanistan imbroglio before any large scale disruption of life in the whole region.

The United States know it well that the drone attacks will have negative and adverse impact on its relations with Pakistan harming the traditionally old ties. It is not in the interest of both the countries to harm their relations deliberately and follow the path of confrontation on which both the countries had no dispute.

Pakistan too wants a peaceful and honourable solution to the Afghan imbroglio by playing a positive role. Peace and stability in Afghanistan is in the supreme interest of Pakistan and its people. Pakistan is ready to play a positive role in motivating all the parties in the conflict to come to negotiating table and resolve their issues in a peaceful manner.

On the other hand, the hot heads in the US administration are trying to single out Pakistan in the whole region by forging an unholy alliance against the Pakistani State. The hot heads in the US Administration believed in use of force in the whole region to defend the legitimate or illegitimate US interests. They had used force against Iraq, Syria and Libya and destroyed three non-conformist Arab countries and now they are trying to target Iran and Pakistan in the second phase.

Pakistan had expressed its willingness to cooperate with the regional countries in fighting terrorism as the country is the prime victim of international terrorism.

Pakistan offered joint military action in the common frontiers with Afghanistan. There was a cold response from both Afghanistan and the United State to Pakistani proposal for joint military action targeting terrorists. Finally, we will suggest to the Government of Pakistan to take the issue of drone attacks to the UN Security Council and seek international help in stopping such attacks on the sovereignty of Pakistan.

Otherwise, other countries will be encouraged and dare to launch such attacks or surgical strikes against Pakistan considering it a weak but a nuclear State. There should be an end to drone attacks on Pakistan for which diplomatic efforts should be made relentlessly.
