QUETTA: The Provincial President of Awami National Party (ANP), Asghar Khan Achakzai has expressed his strong reservations over not implementing on the projects approved for Balochistan in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and said that such attitude of Islamabad would further increase sense of deprivation among Pashtoon and Baloch.

Speaking at a Press Conference, here on Monday, he said that the benefits of the CPEC were visible only in Punjab and rulers were giving attention on the development projects launched under CPEC and resolving the issue of load shedding only in Punjab.

“Pashtoons and Balochistan is being ignored in the development process and all resources were diverting for the development of Punjab as PML-N would take part in the 2018 elections showing its performance in Punjab,” Mr. Achakzai said, adding that this mind set would enhance detestation with Punjab.

He said that deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif made tall promises with Pashtoons and Balochistan regarding implementation of CPEC projects and had said that western route would be completed as soon as possible.

“ Even work was not started on the development projects announced by the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for Balochistan under CPEC so far,” ANP Provincial President claimed and added it was responsibility of the Federal Government to equally implement on the development projects in all the four provinces.

He demanded of the Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, to implement on the projects Nawaz Sharif had announced for the development of Balochistan. He expressed his serious concerned over the increasing target killings incidents in Quetta and other areas of the province and said that government has failed to protect the life and property of the people.

Mr. Achakzai also pointed out that law enforcement agencies whom the provincial government has given responsibility of maintaining law and order situation in the province were just humiliating the people, including women, children and aged people in the name of checking.

He demanded that provincial government should take notice of this situation and order to stop such humiliating checking.

He announced that ANP would launch protests across the province and the party’s central president Asfandyar Wali and other leaders would address at the protest meetings.

He said that ANP and its leadership will not compromise on the rights of the people and would continue struggle for the achievement of legitimate rights of Pashtoons and Balochistan.
