QUETTA: Nawabzada Ghazain Marri, a former Home Minister of Balochistan, had been whisked away by the security personnel when he ended his self exile and landed at the Quetta international Airport on Friday forenoon.

He returned to Pakistan from Dubai where he spent most of his life in exile and evaded politics as per laws of the land in the UAE. There is a complete ban on political activities by foreign nationals or those in exiles for obvious reasons.

Ghazain Marri was the top aide of former Chief Minister Nawab Zulfiqar Magsi and remained a member of his kitchen cabinet besides the strong family relations between Nawab Marri and Nawab Magsi.

Nawabzada Ghazain Marri returned from Dubai on Friday via flight number PK-G9 at Quetta International Airport to face the cases and join the mainstream politics. While in Dubai, he had publicly announced and told media that he would face all the cases on arrival and if there is any.

Nawabzada Ghazain Marri is younger son of late Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri, a legendary politician in this part of the world.  He is younger to Nawab Jhangez Marri, Provincial Minister and elder brother of Hyarbyar Marri, Chief of the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).

The security measures were tight outside and inside the airport as a large number of Marri tribesmen gathered to welcome Nawabzada Ghazain Marri on arrival. They were carrying a huge banner with the picture of Mr. Ghazain Marri.

Mr. Marri taken into custody by sleuths of law enforcement agencies as he first stepped on Pakistani soil and taken to an undisclosed location presumably for preliminary questioning in regard to the past history or events.

“We have arrived here to receive Nawabzada Ghazain Marri but despite having protective bail in all the charges law enforcement agencies have taken my client to unidentified location.” Arbab Tahir Advocate, lawyer of Ghazain Marri, told media outside the Quetta airport.

“We have been tracing out Mr. Ghazain Marri and demanding security forces to reveal his whereabouts and tell us in which case he has been picked-up, Arbab Tahir told the waiting journalists.

Nawabzada Ghazain Marri was wanted in multiple murder cases including the murder of Balochistan High Court (BHC)’s judge Justice Nawaz Marri who was murdered on January 07, 2000.

Provincial Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti said, Ghazain Marri is wanted  in thousands of murder cases, “We have arrested the accused and he will be produced before the courts of law after primary interrogations.”

Talking on Mr. Marri’s protective bail, Sarfraz Bugti said, the legal team of Ghazain Marri didn’t produce any protective bail order before the Provincial Government, “Nawabzada Ghazain Marri is in police custody and we have to take care of his security as he had closed nexus with militants.”

“His two brothers Hyarbyar Marri and Zamuran Marri have been leading banned terrorists organization BLA and UBA, their group members might attempt to release him from police custody,” Sarfraz Bugti claimed.

Provincial Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti has said, we will scrutinize all criminal case against Nawabzada Ghazain Marri in his native district Kohlu and other parts of Balochistan.

“We can’t anticipate the timeframe of court proceedings, but he will be produced before the courts and Mr. Marri will have to face the charges.”

Earlier, the UAE Government detained Nawabzada Ghazain Marri on some charges on the request of Pakistan Government. He was confined to his residence and the UAE Government conducted prolonged investigations against him and found nothing and consequently he was released. The UAE Government had turned down the request from the Government of Pakistan to repatriate him to Pakistan to face presumably money laundering charges.

The former Provincial Governor, Mr. Amirul Mulk Mengal, instituted the murder case of Justice Nawaz Marri against late Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri for political reasons and arrested him. Nawab Marri was implicated in the Justice Nawaz Murder case as late Nawab Bugti was mischievously implicated in the Kalpar Murder case.

When the police party raided the residence of Nawab Marri in Quetta, the senior most police officers were stunned when they could not find a single weapon from his residence though he was Nawab of the biggest and the most militant Baloch tribe in war for the past two centuries.

The late Nawab Marri told newsmen on record that he and members of his family had no dispute, quarrel or feud with the slain High Court Judge. Late Nawab Marri was cited as the ‘main accused’ in the Justice Nawaz and after finding no evidence against him, Nawab Marri was released and he passed rest of his life without involvement in any controversy.
