Pakistan Army discussed on Friday the internal and security situation of the country, and progress on the continuing Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad, the Inter-Services Public Relations said in a statement.
The 204th Corps Commanders’ Conference was held at General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi, presided over by army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa.
The development came a day after Pakistan hinted at bringing a ‘paradigm shift’ in its foreign policy in view of the fast-changing situation on regional and international fronts, particularly after the new US strategy on Afghanistan and South Asia.
US President Donald Trump, in his policy speech on August 21, singled out Pakistan for supporting what he called “agents of chaos, violence and terrorism”. The US president accused Pakistan of harbouring and supporting the Afghan Taliban while getting billions of dollars in aid to fight the very groups. He insisted that Pakistan would have to change that approach immediately or face the consequences.
