QUETTA: It is a question of our future to entirely uproot terrorism from the country, said Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Sunday.

Addressing a press conference in the provincial capital after Saturday’s deadly blast which left 14 people dead, Iqbal said this attack reminds us that we are in a state of war, which requires internal unity.

“Those attempting to internally disunite Pakistan are enemies of the country,” he said, stressing that political differences need to be put aside in such situations.

The minister appealed to all political parties, saying “this is the time to unite against terrorism and shun our differences”.

“We all have to work together to secure our future,” said Iqbal.

“We become more determined with every such cowardly attack”.

The minister said peace and development are inter-linked, “which is why our government, through operations Zarb-e-Azb and Raddul Fasaad, is attempting to put the country on the path of development. God willing such acts will also end soon”.

He also assured the cooperation of the federal government with all provincial governments, saying the enemy is very clever and has specific designs against Pakistan.

Answering a question, Balochistan Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti said 14 people have died in the attack and 46 were injured.

Replying to a query, Iqbal said the security situation is much better as compared to 2013.
