It had been observed generally by the common people that the municipal leaders are found more interested in getting more and more resources and devote less time and energy in extending civic services to the local residents in all parts of the Provincial Capital.

The Federal and Provincial Governments had provided huge funds to the Municipal institution with the main purpose to keep the provincial capital clean and environment-friendly.

It is surprising that the human efforts were found missing after a few weeks in getting the funds and resources and most of the time the gutters were found overflowing constantly and the open drain lines breaking its banks polluting the entire human settlements in the surroundings.

There is a constant overflow of gutters and open drain lines in the surroundings of Civil Hospital, the biggest Government Hospital of the provincial Capital and the Civil Secretariat and the municipal authorities failed to plug this gutter overflow from the area despite it being the VVIP area and close to the Afghan Consulate in the main city centre.

In recent years, the Provincial Government made a huge investment in an attempt to improve the sewerage system in the area but the efforts failed and the gutter overflow continue unabated.

There is a need to improve the project and ensure that there is no overflow of gutters at this black spot of the Provincial Capital. Besides flooding the main artery of the provincial Capital and hampering the flow of traffic, the overflowing gutters spread diseases among the people.

It had been observed that those responsible do attend the problem only after many hours. In case of weekly holiday, the gutter overflow continues till the next working day. It indicates the priority of the municipal leaders in attending the civic problem or monitoring the municipal services in the city round-the-clock.

The Quetta Metropolitan Corporation should be barred effectively from launching any business venture or indulging in commercial activities, including building commercial plaza, or commercialize any QMC land in this provincial capital.

All the Government and QMC land available in Quetta should be used in planting trees, preferably block forestation to keep the environment clean and healthy amid massive pollution and congestion.

It is a good decision on the part of the QMC not to build a plaza on the vacated place of Mutton Market in the main city centre developing a park or keeping an open space for breathing. It will be far better if there should be block forestation to suck pollution from the environment making the climate clean and healthy.

We are in favour of Government ban on all public representatives in indulging in commercial activities or launching projects or schemes with the purpose of minting money for self in other words indulge in corruption.

The public servants, preferably experts in their respective fields, should be made responsible for planning and executing such schemes with economic gains for the Government or the provincial economy as a whole.

After cleaning the main city centre or the commercial district, the QMC should devote all its energies in keeping the environment clean in sub-urban areas of Quetta, preferably the Saryab localities where an efficient drainage system should be developed and place at the service of the local residents.

The drainage system can be efficient only when the QMC or the Provincial Government implement the scientific plan to re-cycle waste water for cultivation, producing quality vegetables and developing orchards in the Quetta Valley.

Besides developing a large green belt, we can conserve water by using the re-cycled waste water for washing and making the main city centre green through block forestation on large scale and planting trees on the road sides.
