The nation will celebrate Independence Day amid challenges this year renewing their commitment to defend the country in all circumstances. The will of the people is supreme and firm to face the challenges posed by the terrorists attacking unarmed civilians, including women and children, security forces and the police for the past many years.

They failed to defeat the high morale of the people and the defence forces of Pakistan, including the police in all provinces of Pakistan. Quetta had been made the prime target for constant terror attacks with some intervals presumably with a mindset to demoralize the people of Balochistan.

In the recent past, the terrorists carried out deadly attacks at Shah Noorani, at Police Training College, Quetta, in Mastung on the JUI supporters, the lawyers’ community and now on the security forces on Saturday night. A large number of people were killed and many more injured or maimed in the terror attacks.

The security establishment is yet to track the criminals and bring the real culprits to justice and put to an end the acts of terror in Quetta and elsewhere in Pakistan. The attack on the truck of the security forces in Quetta on Saturday night was meant to subvert the Independence Day celebrations which were smooth almost in all parts of Balochistan.

According to official sources, 14 persons, including eight security personnel, were killed in the suicide attack. The terrorist used an incendiary device to ignite fire and destroying everything in its surroundings. As a result four cars, four Rickshaws and two motorcycles caught fire following the terrorist attack. This time, the local administration had handled the incident in far better way and injured were taken to hospitals immediately after the terror attack. However, condition of some victims was said to be serious.

This year, the people are devoting their energy and commitment to fighting terrorism and subversion in Balochistan and elsewhere in Pakistan making the country safe and secure for the future generations. The people are willing to cooperate with the security forces in fighting terror. For this the security forces should specify their approach in this regard making the fight total and complete.

At the same time, the Government and its security agencies should prepare the plan for sending all dubious characters mainly from Afghanistan, back to their country so that the security threat to the people and the country is convincingly addressed.

We have to shrug off those elements in Pakistan considering Afghanistan as the fifth Province of Pakistan or it is providing any depth in case of war with India. Afghanistan had unmistakably joined the India camp at the behest of the United States and it will never normalize its relations with Pakistan.

Thus there is minimum room for making any adjustment with Afghanistan under the prevailing security environment. The only option for the Government and the security establishment is to send the illegal immigrants back to Afghanistan so that Pakistan is secured from constant terror attack. In most of the terror attacks, overwhelming majority of Afghans were found involved.

Besides the security forces and the police, the people should remain on guard and they should inform the police experiencing any unusual development in any part of Balochistan. It is the most difficult job to make Quetta, the seat of the Government, safe and secure from the terrorists.

For this, the Government will have to further strengthen the police force and the tightened the security on the borders blocking the influx of people using unregistered and unfrequented routes to Balochistan. There is a wrong impression in circles of some vested interests in regard to policies towards Afghanistan.

Pakistan should welcome all Afghans who respect Pakistani laws and enter Pakistan using valid travel documents only. There is no room for illegal immigrants and they should be sent back before they are used for sabotage and subversion.
