QUETTA: Opposition leader Balochistan Assembly Maulana Abdul Wasay has said that the masses have chosen the members of Assembly and therefore they should represent their interests in the house.

During the discussion on budget 2018-18 here on Sunday, he said that Balochistan lacks its own resources and added that therefore the revenue in Balochistan is almost non-existent. He said that the indigenous revenue of Balochistan is now hardly reaching figure of Rs 12 billion, adding that this province makes half of Pakistan and the untapped resources of Balochistan should be utilized by the Federal Government as it is beyond the capacity of the provincial government to utilize them.

He said that in the resources of gas, Saindak, Reko Dik, Coal and Chromite entire Pakistan deems themselves to be partner but when it comes to the division of the resources, Balochistan gets only a small percentage equivalent to its population. He said that even today there is no facility of gas outside Balochistan. More than 29 districts of Balochistan are willfully denied Sui Gas facilities for the past six long decades.

He said that the eyes of entire Pakistan are focused on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and entire Pakistan is happy with this project; however, the enemies of Pakistan do not want to see this project reach its fulcrum.

He further said that they want to be part of CPEC as promised, adding that work of Western route should begin first. He said that projects under CPEC are about to complete today but when it comes to Balochistan, there is no budget for CPEC related projects.

He said that billions of rupees have been allocated for education but only allocation of money is not the solution but the solution lies in the very way as to how these funds are being spent.

He questioned if any improvement has come in education in recent years in which billions were allocated for education.

Mir Khalid Langov said that he congratulates P&D Minister and Additional Chief Secretary who did the best for their areas, adding that Qilla Abdullah was given Rs 3 billion and 300 million were allocated for three police stations by the ACS Development exercising his power and position in the Government.

He said that he had surrendered 22 million and instead of returning all this money, only 4 million rupees are returned to him which is excess with his and other constituencies. He said that this was not the vision of Khan Shaheed.

Syed Liaquat Agha lashed out at the comments of Mir Khalid Langov which led to exchange of hot words between the two and speaker turned off the speaker.

Deputy Parliamentary Leader of NP Sardar Aslam Bizenjo said that where did it fall in democratic values that a bureaucrat could divert such huge chunks to small constituencies, adding that this makes their sitting in parliament futile if bureaucracy is so powerful.
