QUETTA: In less than a year, there were four major suicide attacks on the people of Balochistan. It is strange that the terrorist outfits exclusively targeted the innocent and unarmed people to spread terror among the people. The highly trained terrorists had always chosen soft targets to kill more and more innocent people. A conflict on the political front is going on for the past the 15 years between the State and certain political elements which the Government leaders and state institutions always termed as “an insurgency with low intensity.”

The terrorists attacks were carried out at lawyers at the Civil Hospital, Quetta, the trainee police officers were targeted in their barracks at the Police Training Centre, Quetta, the deadly attack at a remote shrine at Shah Noorani which left a score of people and now the Mastung suicide attack on the caravan of JUI leader and Deputy Chairman Senate, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Hyderi.

Why the innocent and harmless people of this province were chosen for suicide attacks in row? There is no explanation from the investigating agencies probing all the events. Presumably, the investigators want the people to believe that they are all ‘blind cases’ of terrorism.

In similar cases of terrorism reported in other provinces, the terror outfits were pinned down and identified with a clear perception that why the terrorist acts was committed there and who was responsible. Hundreds of terrorists were caught in other provinces and dozens of them executed after they were caught, tried in courts of law and punished through death sentences.

Why all the terrorist attacks are considered as blind cases?  Or the investigators wanted to hush up the cases with the passage of time and wanted that the people should ignore as the enemy is not identified or not traced through investigations.

A band of sectarian terrorists were involved in killing thousands of innocent people of the other sect in the surroundings of Quetta. The outfits claimed the responsibility and again no one of them was arrested, tried and punished under the law.

The people of Balochistan are kept in dark by not revealing the fact. On the contrary, there were score of cases that hard working and highly dedicated police officers were killed while properly investigating the cases of terrorism and mass killing of the people in Balochistan. Who attacked and killed those honest and efficient police officers? Who killed them? Were they wanted to block the police investigation in those cases? It is not clear to this date.

There was a classic case with a very senior police officer. He was investigating a very sensitive terrorist case and he reportedly had come to some conclusions about the terrorist killings. The unidentified terrorists attacked his official residence inside the maximum security police line blowing up major part of his official residence.

After becoming homeless and shelterless with his family as his official residence blown up by the terrorists, he had approached the then IGP to allot a vacant house to accommodate his family for a temporary period, the IGP rejected his request and denied him alternate residence which was available forcing the very senior officers to return to his extended family and settle down to this date.

The people had a feeling that they are enjoying a very special treatment in all respects and there is no exception even for the police officers regardless of their ethnicity. Presumably Balochistan being a security province of Pakistan, it is getting special treatment.

In case of Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Hyderi, he was a very humble man in all respect and he posed to challenge or threat to any individual or institution. Besides this, he had played a subdued role in local politics, not to speak of national politics.

More over the JUI is coalition partner of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-N and he never posed any threat to his own coalition Government. However, some JUI leaders at the local level are highly offended by remaining out of power after three constitutional tenures. For the first time, the JUI was forced to occupy Opposition Benches in the Balochistan Assembly. Or in other words, the JUI legislators denied official perks and privileges after 10 long years.

There is no cause confrontation between the JUI leadership and the Government as JUI top leaders are part and parcel of the present Government at the Federal Level. Maulana Fazlur Rehman is occupying the seat of Chairman Kashmir Committee; former KPK Chief Minister is now holding the portfolio of Housing and Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Hyderi had been elected as Deputy Chairman, Senate of Pakistan; the highest post the Pakistani Federation allotted to Balochistan.

A known website of the terrorists reported that the ISIL has claimed the responsibility of the suicide attack on Maulana Hyderi in Mastung. However, Provincial Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti contested the claim indicating sensitivity of Government in such claims from ISIL or its affiliates. He provided no proof about his claim while addressing a news conference late in the night.
