Youm-e-Takbeer is being observed across the country on Sunday to commemorate the historic nuclear tests conducted in Chaghai, Balochistan on May 28, 1998.

On this day 19 years ago, Pakistan detonated its nuclear devices to become the seventh country in the world, and the first Muslim country to achieve the status of a nuclear power.

Different organisations have arranged special programmes and functions to highlight importance of the day, according to Radio Pakistan.

Tributes are being paid to the team of nuclear scientists by intellectuals, poets, journalists, defence analysts and notable personalities.

Special prayers are also being offered for the country’s progress, supremacy of the Constitution and eradication of terrorism.
