QUETTA: Pakistan Coalition for Ethical Journalism (PCEJ) has framed Code of Ethics for Pakistani media and released it Thursday. A ceremony in this regard was held a t Quetta Press Club.

QUETTA:  Pakistan Coalition for Ethical Journalism (PCEJ) has framed Code of Ethics for Pakistani media and released it Thursday. A ceremony in this regard was held a t Quetta Press Club.

Director of Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS) Aamir Rana, President Press Cub Shahzada Zulfiqar, senior journalist Saleem Shahid and former President Balochistan Union of Journalists Hammad Siapad speaking on the occasion this is our own code of ethics prepared in consultation with government regulatory bodies, representatives of Journalists bodies and senior journalists in all the four provinces.

With its implementation responsible journalism would take place. It would help reduce violence against journalists and reduction in murderous attacks. It would also help improve deteriorating face of journalist sin the country. It is aimed at to secure own life and tell truth to the society through responsible journalism and to strengthen democracy.

Speakers said responsible journalism was gaining roots in Balochistan. He thanked PCEJ for including opinion of journalists form Balochistan.

They said journalism is very responsible profession. Journalists need not written code of ethics. But we realized this need because majority of journalists owing to their irresponsible behaviour have lost their lives. They also face violence. But it is very clear journalists are not above the law.
