Balochistan cabinet approves establishment of 3 new Authorities

QUETTA: The Provincial Cabinet on Tuesday announced to establish three new authorities, namely the Safe Citizens’ Authority, Waste Management Authority and Horticulture Authority.

QUETTA: The Provincial Cabinet on Tuesday announced to establish three new authorities, namely the Safe Citizens’ Authority, Waste Management Authority and Horticulture Authority.

Addressing to a press conference following the meeting of cabinet, Spokesperson Balochistan Government Anwar ul Haq Kakar said that census is a constitutional obligation and Government is conducting census in the light of Supreme Court’s directions, adding that all the preparations have been finalized in this regard.

He said that apart from establishing above-mentioned three Authorities, the Shipbreaking Authority was also discussed but could not be approved, adding that it would be discussed in a later session of the cabinet. He said that national and international companies would be contacted for benefitting from the resources of the province in order that arrangements of revenue generation are made on larger scale. He said that if the budget of Balochistan continued as it was currently, provincial government would run off the development budgets and the entire budget of Balochistan would be consumed in non-development expenditures. “Therefore, it is necessary that revenue generation arrangements are made in the province,” he said and added that the mega international companies would be contacted in this regard to benefit from the provincial resources.

He said that Cabinet also decided to formulate a committee for legislation on Gwadar which would pave the way for legislation on the required areas. He said that Chinese team had already arrived in Quetta and began its survey on Quetta Mass Transit Train Project and would hopefully prepare the survey by June to initiate work on the project.

It was also told in the session of cabinet, he added, that Chines Company had given a 22 billion rupees grant for Gwadar Airport which would be completed by mid-2017. He said that Cabinet also decided to Federal Government to award Civil Award and Quaid-e-Azaam Police Award to Shaheed Abdul Razzaq.
