Kurrum Agency and particularly the Parachinar Township, is considered the most sensitive part of Pakistan experiencing killing of innocent people on sectarian grounds. Since the beginning of the Afghan civil war, the area got importance as most of the erstwhile Afghan Mujahideen wanted to use this route to attack Kabul. The local residents, all happened to be Shiite Muslims, refused to allow them to use their territory against Afghanistan and its people as they had very friendly relations with the Afghan people. It was the basic dispute that made Parachinar as the prime target of frequent bomb attacks and mass killing of innocent people. As usual, the same militant groups claimed the responsibility for killing the innocent Pakistanis on sectarian grounds. A very powerful bomb was planted in a vegetable box which was exploded using a remote control device. The attack left 25 people killed and around 40 injured; ten of them very seriously. The death toll is expected to rise further. The authorities should take the incident very serious and should reach the real culprits responsible for killing innocent people merely on the basis of sect and belief which should not be permissible at any cost. The Parliament was informed by the Government elaborately about the involvement of hostile security agencies in Pakistan’s internal affairs seeking to destabilize the nuclear State which is a dangerous move that should be checked effectively. The announcement made by the newly elected US President, Mr. Trump, that his administration would target the Islamic extremists involved in acts of terrorism and his Government will destroy them on priority. He made these remarks at the inaugural speech and also after visiting the CIA Headquarters the next day. A sizable number of religious and militant outfits are openly operating in Pakistan besides the other countries and Pakistan can be made a target by the new US administration in eliminating Islamic terror or those using religious as a weapon against the world peace and order. It is the duty of the Government of the day to take firm action against all the religious and terror outfits and eliminate them all before the US or the world community intervenes in our domestic affairs. The Government should take immediate measures to check the terrorist activities of religious outfits before they act in other parts of Pakistan, mainly in Balochistan where thousands of innocent people were killed in terrorist acts.
