The Prime Minister had recently announced to build yet another major hospital in Quetta with a capacity of 500 beds. The Provincial Government or other departments are operating eight major hospitals in this Provincial Capital catering the needs of the people of Quetta and its surrounding. The 500-bed hospital proposed in the major health scheme of the Prime Minister should be shifted to Sibi meeting the needs of the people of Eastern parts of Balochistan. There is concentration of health services in Quetta and all experts doctors and surgeons are confined to Quetta only forcing the patients from all corners of Balochistan to reach Quetta for specialized treatment.

We are strongly opposed to concentration of health services in Quetta and denying rest of people with such facilities and services at their door-steps. There are plans to establish such major hospitals in other parts of Balochistan and one is again given to Quetta while the entire eastern part of Balochistan is denied services of a major hospital where experts and senior doctors serve the ailing humanity closer to their homes. Only Sibi or whole of Eastern Balochistan is denied such a major hospital we suggest to the Prime Minister to change the site of Quetta Hospital and take it to Sibi at once before the construction work is started. There are three teaching hospital, including a University Hospital, is functioning in Quetta. All the three hospitals in Quetta are considered the largest and biggest hospitals in the province and there is no need to build another big one in Quetta or concentrate all the better skills in one city. The facilities in health sectors should be dispersed and cover the whole province as every individual got equal right over resources and Quetta should not have any monopoly over the national wealth and health services.
