PESHAWAR: Director General ISPR, Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa Tuesday informed that gang of militants involved in Christian Colony attack has been busted and all the facilitators involved in the terror incident have been apprehended.

PESHAWAR: Director General ISPR, Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa Tuesday informed that gang of militants involved in Christian Colony attack has been busted and all the facilitators involved in the terror incident have been apprehended.

Briefing the media persons in Officers Mess here, he said all the four facilitators involved in the Christian Colony attack have been nabbed adding the attack was planned in the Afghanistan and the arrested facilitators helped the perpetrators to reach their final destination, the Christian Colony. He said that one co-accomplice of the attackers was hiding somewhere in Afghanistan.

DG ISPR also informed that three persons were also arrested for their involvement in the Katchery attack in Mardan. He said that three suicide jackets were also recovered from the arrested militants that were planning to attack Mardan Police Lines and National Bank.

Bajwa said all the arrested were being involved in facilitating the attackers to reach their target points from Torkham. Bajwa said the women were being also nabbed for their involvement of terror incidents and they would be prosecuted according to law.

He said that 1470 Intelligence Based Operations have been conducted in Peshawar and FATA that has significantly improved overall security situation. He said in future the operations would be more focused and coordinated. Gen Bajwa was briefing the media on the ” Operation and Security review meeting which was headed by Chief of Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif.”

He said the kinetic element of Operation Zarb-e-Azb including Khyber III has been successfully concluded and mountainous range of Rajgal has been cleared. He said all the strategic points were being manned by our security forces for close monitoring of the area and cross border movement.

He said the process of TDP’s repatriation has been completed by 75 percent and they were being given due assistance with the coordination and support of concerned departments. He said that 14 incidents of terror have been averted by the security forces from July 1, 2016 till date in KP and FATA.

DG ISPR said,” We are trying to improve border management. The situation would be more satisfactory if neighboring Afghanistan plays its due role in this regard.” He said new check posts have also been established that would further enhance border management between the two countries.

He said the eastern borders of the country were under close monitoring of the security forces who were ready to respond to any aggression. He also urged people to be vigilant and keep an eye on any suspected movement in their areas.
