QUETTA: Following security threats after 08, August Civil Hospital bombing, Pakistan Army has taken security charge on Wednesday of Province’s largest Government Bolan Medical Complex (BMC).

According to officials, after the Civil Hospital attack and more security threats, health department had given an application to Pak-Army to take security charge of BMC while government has intended to take service of retired Army Officers.

“At least 18 Pak Army personnel accompanied with FC soldiers have taken charge of Province’s largest Government Hospital, they have been deployed in entrance-exit points, Hostel, residential colony and other sensitive areas,” Medical Superintendent (MS) BMC Ayoub Kakar said.

He added, “Despite immense security threats, security contract with a private company was cancelled on June, 30, hence we have decided to assume Army security service to confront any threat,” Ayoub Kakar said and added security tenders had also been issued.

The decision came after more than a month, when a deadliest suicide attack struck lawyers gathering inside Civil Hospital’s casualty killing 74 people majority lawyers on August, 08.

“After suicide attack in BMC in 2013, provincial government announced to install 68 security cameras inside BMC’s premises but yet we received only 32.” MS BMC told.

Lamenting on the flaws in security measure for BMC Dr. Ayoub Kakar said, prior we had more than 150 security personnel that decreased into merely 9.

“More than 3000 patients come to Bolan Medical Complex on daily basis from across the province, but still we haven’t appropriate security arrangements,” he added.
