QUETTA: Another Congo patient died this month here in Quetta pushing the death toll to 8 in Balochistan for the past seven months.

QUETTA: Another Congo patient died this month here in Quetta pushing the death toll to 8 in Balochistan for the past seven months.

Medical Officer Fatima Jinnah Chest Hospital Dr Mukhtar said that total 84 suspected cases of Congo Virus were reported in Balochistan in which 62 patients came from Afghanistan.

There is a deep concern among the people in this Provincial Capital when they came to know that the Congo Virus is invading this part of the world from Afghanistan, mainly the patients coming from the desolate regions of Afghanistan without any check or monitoring. The population influx coupled with invasion of Congo Virus is from Afghanistan,’ a medical student remarked.

“After Polymerase Chain Reaction (PRC) in Aga Khan Hospital Karachi 22 cases retuned positive from which eight people have lost their lives while fighting the fatal Congo Virus.” MS Dr. Mukhtar added.

The Live Stock Department Balochistan had launched a campaign in all cattle market of Quetta, where they are spraying Anti-Congo liquid while blood samples of cattle had been sent to labs for checking.

“The Government Department just once visited the cattle market, but nothing has done to protect our animals from Congo insect,” Muhamad Ismael a cattle vendor brought his animal for Eid claimed.

Patients are being admitted in Isolation Ward of the Fatima Jinnah Chest Diseases Hospital as the number of Congo patients is being received.

“People should wear light color stuff while visiting the cattle market and make sure to keep distance from the sacrificial animals,” MS Fatima Jinnah Hospital suggested to the citizens.
