Dera Allah Yar: A first gay marriage between between two young men was reported in Gandawa area of Dera Allahyar in Jaffarabad district, bordering town with Sindh province, in Balochistan.

Police have arrested newly married couple, their friend and the man who read out the Nikah. “We have arrested four people, including the couple, who are under investigation,” Station House Officer (SHO) Gandawa PS Zulfiqar Jamali confirmed with Balochistan Express.

It was the unique incident in the areas. “The man who read out the Nikah was not a religious cleric nor he was authorized to do that,” Jamali said. “The young men during the investigation have said it was not a serious marriage as they were just joking.”

However, the medical report suggested that the couple had sex. Police have registered cases against four as it is illegal and a violation of the law. The cases were registered under section 377/34, the deal with same sexuality.

It is pertinent to mention here that sexual abuses are rarely reported in Balochistan as it is the highly conservative society and people often personal settle these issues. The gays and transgender often do not speak up about their sexuality following the strict norms of the society and culture in Balochistan.
